By Carrie Charley Brown and Kirsti Call
As mentioned in Monday’s post, our time together is not yet over.  There’s a lot more in store for you!  You are part of the ReFoReMo family now. Let’s have a HUGE group hug!

Time for a curtain call… a bittersweet celebration of everyone that contributed to this great challenge. I can’t imagine what ReFoReMo would be like without our amazing author-educators. Their valuable, varied perspectives and recommendations were priceless! They kept us inspired and energized! Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I encourage you to revisit their work and keep a watch on their achievements.  Consider doing an author study (or publisher study) on each of them!

Let’s hear it for this amazing team!
Wow! It’s incredible to see everyone here in one place. Encore! Encore!

Please give an extra standing ovation to our sunshiny Facebook group welcome captain, Janie Reinart. She welcomed you into the group, helped share ReFoReMo fever, and spread good discussion vibes.  Thank you, Janie!

We would also like to thank you, too! The discussions were on fire this year! You didn’t hold back and you really opened yourselves up to one another in the group. It’s been so much fun getting to know you and we hope to see lots more of you.

ReFoReMo 2017 will be that much better because you are part of the family. We look forward to bringing you weekly posts until then, but we’ll need a bit of a break first. Whew! We’ll use the month of April to sort out prizes and tech issues, so you’ll see very little of us until May. But then! THEN! We'll be coming to you from our new website! YAY! Don't forget to go to www.reforemo.com to subscribe to the new site. And then claim your entries in yesterday's drawing, which is open to everyone. (Even if you are subscribed to this site, you will need to be subscribed to the new site to continue to have ReFoReMo education and support delivered to your inbox.)

It’s time for Rafflecopter directions:

If you consistently read picture books every day between March 8-28, commented on each prize post (including this one), and you are properly registered (following #1 and #2 from the registration post), then you are eligible to enter the Rafflecopter drawing one time.  This will place you in the drawing for all of the prizes.  You may view the prizes by scrolling through the Rafflecopter (see dots under the first listed prize.)  If you enter more than once, you will be disqualified.  Registrations and comments will be verified before announcing prize winners.  But, as far as your reading goes, we are on the honor system.  The Rafflecopter is only open from 12am CST March 30 to 12am CST March 31.  One day.  That’s it.  Make sure you take advantage of your entry while you can!

Another thank you goes out to all of our prize donators!  The biggest prize of all was the education you received, right? Keep on learning!

It has been a great month. Loved the mentor texts given each day and why. The outstanding talent you gathered for the month, well overwhelming, to say the least. Reading and re-reading the selections for each day/week, lead to greater understanding. Thank you for the contribution you make to the picture book genre.

Not only was the reading part a wonderful learning experience, but I have to say that I really benefited just as much from the Facebook group. I met new people, made new friends, discovered other kid lit learning/group forums, became part of a separate smaller discussion/critique group, was able to ask questions with no judgement whenever I came across one, and then was given answers from a multiple of people with levels of experience almost immediately. I've learned a lot about this world in just a month. This has been a pleasant experience, a nice challenge, and an educational time. Super Duper Thank you.

I gained so many nuggets of wisdom this month through ReFoReMo. Thank you. I strove for the following research goals:

1. Learn how to effectively analyze mentor texts.
2. Utilize mentor texts to look for examples of pacing.
3. Examine the narrative arcs in mentor texts.
4. Identify themes in mentor texts more effectively.
5. Apply this research to my own manuscripts.

I was able to meet these goals and more! I also learned ways to truly grab a reader, most effectively establish voice, different ways to structure a manuscript, ways to use dialogue, the use of back matter, incorporating senses into a ms, and so much more. My journey has only begun and I'm excited to take all of this knowledge with me as I write, read, write, read!

What a wonderful month! Thank you again!

Thank you! ReFoReMo meant reading even more picture books, venturing to new libraries to find books on the list, talking to new children's librarians, and tons of notes for all my WIPs. Now, to turn all this momentum toward the writing. After a few days of ReFoReMo recovery—all that binge reading muddled my head a bit.

ReFoReMo is like college,
We gained a lot of knowledge.
Can't March last forever?
It will if we endeavor
To read picture books whenever
Like birds of a feather
We'll read and write together!

A cyber standing ovation for Carrie, Kristi and Janie! Thanks so much for your daily deposit of encouragement and nuggets of information. I was also hesitant to join because my daughter was going to have major surgery this month, which she did, but the challenge was a great distraction for me and in the end I am glad I joined! By the way my daughter's surgery went well and she is home recovering. I am looking at using her experience to write something for children, like her seven year old son, who have a parent who is ill and needs medical attention.

Thank you so much for developing this community of children's PB readers, writers and illustrators. I've loved every minute of it! I joined SCBWI yesterday and I'm waiting to join a critique group. Off to the library for my last reserved PBs. I even read I Am Cow, Hear Me Moo to my 11 yr Boy Scouts last night! So much fun. Now onto editing and polishing.

Carrie, as I wrote yesterday when I was muddled, I have had my eyes opened as a grandmother to books and wonderful writers I never knew. I am so pleased to have joined this month and I look forward to writing better and with more care because of what mentor books have taught me. I am not good at reducing word count but this month I have seen the value of it all.
Thank you so much for book lists, wonderful blogs and enthusiasm from all who took part. Blessings on a rest now!
