-A guy gets turned into a monster against his will
-The fate of the world is to be destroyed
-MC's house swallows him whole
Can you tell my son likes sci-fi and fantasy?
Have fun!

Tension. Without it, our stories stall out and make readers loose interest. There is nothing worse than a real snoozer! So, let's build some tension! I will give you three problem scenarios. Your job is to find 3 attempts that will fail for your character. As in real life, things don't always work on the first try. Therefore, attempts should not measure up to a solution right away. Here are your scenarios (courtesy of my oldest son, Collin):

I love all of Collin's ideas--I'm a sci-fi and fantasy fan myself. Thanks for this timely post Carrie. Tension is something I'm working on in several of my stories right now.

For me weekend reading could be of 2 types: educational or relaxed. This is a time when you have enough time to read all materials that you planed for a long time and the energy to be highly productive. If it's another case and you need to have a good rest and to recover you can read easy light books like this one. They will make your day cozy and interesting.

As a children’s writer, and a teacher, my goal is to help you carry on. Sometimes learning is challenging, so why go it alone? Your journey will be more meaningful and comfortable with friends to share it with. Together, we'll get up close and personal with authors, illustrators, and the best of picture books. If we work together, great things will follow! Archives
